Bear Lakes Middle School teachers, staff and students will be presenting a dynamic showcase of talent to commemorate and celebrate the accomplishments, achievements and struggles of African-Americans throughout the history of America, Thursday, February 24 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the school cafeteria.

The African-American experience will be shared through songs/spirituals, raps, skits, dances, musical performances and monologues.  Many notables from our history will be portrayed from Harriet Tubman to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to President Barack Obama and many in between.  The school will also be providing a soul food meal.  Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults.  Proceeds will benefit the Band and Choral departments at Bear Lakes Middle School.

The School District of Palm Beach County through the African and African American History Curriculum enables students to learn about the beauty, wealth, and courage of Africans and African Americans from Ancient Africa to the modern Diaspora. In addition, we encourage the exploration of significant phases of the African and African American experiences.
