Atlantic High LogoMath and engineering savvy students at Atlantic Community High School have come together to try their hand at designing and building an original robot, and have been given support from several businesses in the community, including JCPenney, Delray Industrial Park, and ICS Inc.

Eagles Robotics may be a rookie team, but the work that these teenagers are already producing is nothing short of extraordinary. Teacher sponsor, Carlos Acosta, is extremely proud at the Team’s initial attempt at a FIRST Tech Challenge, as they placed 2nd and won countless rounds against veteran teams with much more experience. They are hoping to do even better next month.

The thirteen-member team is currently in the middle of their six-week session designing and building an original robot for the FIRST® Regional Competition scheduled for March 29th – 31st at the FAU Campus in Boca Raton.  FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a not-for-profit organization which inspires young people’s interest and participation in science and technology by engaging students in innovative robotics competitions.

“All of this could not be possible without assistance and support from not only our school, but also our community,” says Robotics Team mentor Vladimir Safin. “We are especially grateful to Rick Zorovich, ICS Inc.’s Vice President, for his support and provision of space for our team to work.”

ICS, Inc. are commercial real estate advisors providing client focused solutions for leasing, property management, and investments.  Their primary focus is in South Florida warehouse, flex and retail space.

The Eagle’s Robotics Team is also grateful to Delray Industrial Park, an Industrial Business Park consisting of warehouse, showroom and office spaces in Delray Beach; and FIRST® sponsor JCPenney.

The Atlantic Eagles Robotics Team’s goal is to excite students about science, engineering, math and technology by engaging them in hands-on experiences.
