WEST PALM BEACH-  The School District of Palm Beach County has been named by The National Association for Music Merchants (NAMM) as a Best Communities for Music Education.
Only four percent of school districts in the United States have received this recognition, and Palm Beach County is one of only two school districts in the state of Florida to be honored.
The District’s inclusion on the list is a testament to the outstanding efforts to provide music access and education to all students.
“This award recognizes the commitment of school administrators, community leaders, teachers, and parents who believe in music education and are working to ensure that it is part of a complete education for all children”, said Edrick Rhodes, the District’s K-12 Arts Education Administrator.
The program’s extensive 18-page application included a survey and detailed questions about a variety of factors in the community that affect students’ access to music education.
“Our application was evaluated by a university research department. Their analysis confirmed that our district funding, staffing, commitment to standards and access to music instruction is exemplary and has a direct impact on students’ academic achievement,” Rhodes said.
